About the Bond

Why Does Redmond School District Need a Bond?

This bond represents the second phase of a two part construction program to make long-term repairs and increase student opportunities in the Redmond School District without raising the tax rate!

What are the Conditions Of Redmond Schools?

  • Safety and Security Systems are Aging: The average age of Redmond School District Schools is 50 years. These buildings have outdated fire safety, electrical, security systems, asbestos, and poor air quality.
  • Major Building Systems Have Reached the End of Their Usable Life: Large-scale repairs and replacements are needed to address safety hazards, accessibility issues and fix failing infrastructure like roofs, siding, floor coverings and HVAC systems.
  • Not Enough Space to Meet the Demand for Hands On Learning: The demand for career and technical education is increasing every year. Current facilities at Redmond High School are too small and lack the space to grow programs such as Career and Technical Education, theater, band, choir, and art. Additionally, there is a growing demand to bring middle school grades back to Tumalo Community School, which currently only serves students in grades K-5.

What will the bond do for Redmond schools?

This bond will raise $97.7 million dollars without raising the tax rate to:

The bond will also fund new air conditioning for second floor classrooms at Terrebonne Community School and Sage Elementary to address heat and air quality concerns.

Preserve our community's investment in Redmond schools with repairs and updates to aging schools around the district. The bond will fund much needed repairs to basic building systems, parking lots, and walkways as well as make repairs to the 50-year-old HVAC hydronic pipes at Redmond High School.

The bond will also make energy efficiency upgrades such as updates to HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems; new windows and LED lighting; and xeriscaping or turf athletic fields at both high schools to reduce water usage.

Expand student opportunities by making critical investments in workforce training, athletics, and the arts. The bond would renovate Career and Technical Education classrooms, theater, art, band, choir, and athletic spaces at Redmond High School.

The bond will allow RSD to expand Tumalo Community School to reintroduce grades 6-8, returning the school to a K-8 school once again. Many families are challenged with transporting their middle school children to other communities due to the lack of middle school in Tumalo.
